First Week Home

Ian has been home for one week today and it has been a great week (mostly!). He has been eating, sleeping (almost 3 hours at a time at night so we are counting our blessings!), and pooping/peeing (sometimes in a diaper, sometimes not :) so he is meeting all of the requirements of a healthy baby.

When he got home on Father's Day, he got to meet his Grandpa Quinter for the first time and got his daddy a daddy diaper bag for his first Father's Day. You can see how happy he is in this photo :)

On Tuesday he had his first visit to the pediatrician and weighed in at 7 lb 6 oz. On Wednesday he took his first trip to the mall with Grandma Quinter and I (mom needed some new clothes :). He was SO good at the mall. He slept almost the whole time! Grandma Quinter left on Wednesday so Thursday was the first day of Ian and I home alone. It was great except we both fell asleep for a "nap" and I didn't set an alarm. He went almost 5 hours without eating and I paid for it the rest of the day! He ate every 2 hours after that until we went to bed!

We were in new parenthood bliss until Friday hit. I had arranged several months ago for a photographer to come to our house and take newborn pictures. The pictures on her website are amazing....serene naked babies in beautiful sets and poses, so I had been looking forward to having this done for my baby for months. The photographer showed up at 10 and I woke Ian to feed him. We had turned our AC off so he would be comfortable and not cold since he was going to be naked in the photos. This meant 80 degrees in our house for mom and dad...really warm. The photographer told me her typical newborn session is about 3 hours long to give time to feed in between photos if needed etc.... Well Ian did not like being naked, 80 degrees or not. He literally cried nearly the entire photo session, which instead of 3 hours lasted 5! We didn't even get to several of the poses she usually does. In addition he pooped seemingly continuously throughout, on 7 different blankets and peed at least twice, once hosing down the wall, the other time hosing down the photographer (that's what we get for 5 hours of a baby with no diaper on!). Needless to say, mom was in tears by the time the photographer left. I am just praying she got a few really priceless shots to make it all worth it! We'll find out soon.

After the trauma of photos, Ian settled down and got a good night's sleep, just in time to meet his cousins Jayden and Brooke for the first time and his Aunt Julie and Uncle Josh on Saturday. It was awesome of them to come and visit and we had a great time!
